It’s All About Our Little People

How We Learn.

Playhouse Preschool Painting Hands and making prints

We have planned and varied high quality play sessions, providing the opportunity for the development of imaginative, creative, manipulative and physical skills.

Social and Emotional, Language and Literacy development is also encouraged.

The activities provide challenge and help build resilience, helping your child to develop a ‘can do’ attitude and ability to think and learn.

The Key Person Approach

Giving your child ‘their person’.

Playhouse Preschool magic key

To ensure a smooth transition every child is allocated a key person.

Their key person helps them to feel known, understood, cared about and safe; enabling your child to thrive.

The key person approach involves a triangle of trust with the child and their family.

The key persons role is to settle your child during the transition process, form a close bond with your child, complete records, keep you informed of their progress and emotional well-being.

At Playhouse Preschool we understand every child’s experience is unique and children will have encountered many different out-of-home experiences, through childcare, toddler groups, family day care and more than one nursery.

For other children, preschool may be their first experience of being separated from their family.

Therefore our settling in process is tailored to suit your child and family.

Focus Child

Each Keyperson has ‘focus children’ each week.

The Keyperson will be observing them while they play to find out more about their interests, how they are progressing and how to move learning forwards.

When your child is due to be a ‘focus child’ we email parents a comment sheet to complete the week before. We value the knowledge and understanding you have of your child and really appreciate it when you share anything significant happening in your child’s life with us. This also enables us to plan for their future learning and development.

All About Me

At Playhouse Preschool we embrace, welcome, value, respect and celebrate all types of families.

One of the ways to ensure your child feels welcome, reflected and part of our Playhouse family

is to share the book we have - which is filled with photographs of each family

that attends our setting.

Learning Journey

Each child’s learning and development journey through preschool is documented through photographs, written observations and the ‘My Unique Progress’ Document. This document is created and updated by your child’s key person.

We feel it is important to involve parents in this process, as we know parents have an integral role in their child’s education.

Therefore, we have an open door policy and encourage parents to look at the My Unique Progress document as well as sharing and discussing your child’s learning at home with your key person.
